Chef Demo with Josh Hopkins
of Empire State South
10:00 a.m. on 7/11
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
Josh Hopkins has been the Executive Chef at Empire State South since the summer of 2014. He was raised in Atlanta, where he learned how to cook from the women in his family and by watching cooking shows like "Wok with Yan." Chef Hopkins' philosophy is simple, "cook good, local food." In lieu of culinary school, Hopkins started his career with a formal apprenticeship for French Master Chef Christian Chemin. He's since worked in many acclaimed restaurants throughout the Southeast. In Charleston, he cooked at Slightly North of Broad and High Cotton. Returning to Atlanta, he worked as the chef de cuisine of Bacchanalia and at Abattoir, where he served as chef and co-owner. He next took the lead at STG Trattoria before making the move to Empire State South. In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristine, and their two dogs, playing frisbee golf and cooking with family.

Komen Breast Health Education

They'll also have pink shirts available for breast cancer survivors. This craft is fun for children and adults alike!

Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
After making an indelible mark on the industry with Octopus Bar, a celebrated post-shift spot among our city's chefs, Angus Brown's newest concept was one of the most highly anticipated openings last year. And rightly so. Lusca has since been named as a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best New Restaurant category, included in GQ's list of "America's 25 Outstanding Restaurants," and listed in bon appetit's "America's 50 Best New Restaurants." Angus was also named one of Cooking Light's "Trailblazing Chefs" and was nominated for Food & Wine's "People's Best New Chef." He's trained in French, Italian, and Asian cuisine, and has researched and cooked his way through Japan and Vietnam. Lucky for us, he's settled in his hometown of Atlanta, where he's committed to using local ingredients and serves on the chef advisory board of Atlanta's Community Farmers Markets. You won't want to miss this Saturday's demo with one of our city's most creative chefs!

Every Saturday, rain or shine

What to expect at PRFM...

...open through December 13th, so don't forget your local farmers, food-makers, and artists when it comes time for...Halloween (we have a parade for that), Thanksgiving, and prepping for Hanukkah, Christmas, and those cold winter months when you'll be glad you froze/canned/stocked up on your favorite veggies and other treats.

...weekly Chef Demos! Check out the city's best chefs, nominated for demos by our very own market farmers (in other words, these ladies and gents are experts at cooking local and helping you to do the same). Every Saturday at 10:00 a.m., sponsored by Country Financial. Take a look at the roster and other upcoming events here.

...amazing farmers and vendors who all grow, raise, or make their own goods (no resellers here). That makes PRFM the largest producer-only farmers market in the state. See a full list of our farmers, growers, producers, and artists here.

Also...

...live music (local artists, of course).
...kids' activities.
...the coolest dogs in town.
...and YOU!

Chef Demo with Nick Leahy
of Saltyard
10:00 a.m. on 5/17
Chef Demos are sponsored by
COUNTRY Financial
Chef Nick Leahy is one worldly chef. He was born in Bermuda and grew up in England before moving to Atlanta in elementary school. With a mother who's half-French, he was exposed early on to delicacies like duck confit and knew even then that he wanted to be a chef. His culinary career has included stints at Food Studio, Two Urban Licks, Stats, and Parish, among others. But it was in 2011 that he and his wife really took an international leap of faith, traveling (and eating around) Europe and Africa for six months, then living in London for a year. In London, Leahy served as executive chef at Daylesford Organic, a restaurant that sources ingredients from its own farm. He brought back from abroad an even richer global perspective and a strengthened commitment to all things local and organic. Just down the road from PRFM, he opened his own restaurant, Saltyard, almost a year ago. Stop by the demo tent this Saturday to catch up with the chef!
