Chef Demo with Josh Hopkins
of Empire State South
10:00 a.m. on 7/11
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
Josh Hopkins has been the Executive Chef at Empire State South since the summer of 2014. He was raised in Atlanta, where he learned how to cook from the women in his family and by watching cooking shows like "Wok with Yan." Chef Hopkins' philosophy is simple, "cook good, local food." In lieu of culinary school, Hopkins started his career with a formal apprenticeship for French Master Chef Christian Chemin. He's since worked in many acclaimed restaurants throughout the Southeast. In Charleston, he cooked at Slightly North of Broad and High Cotton. Returning to Atlanta, he worked as the chef de cuisine of Bacchanalia and at Abattoir, where he served as chef and co-owner. He next took the lead at STG Trattoria before making the move to Empire State South. In his free time, Josh enjoys spending time with his wife, Kristine, and their two dogs, playing frisbee golf and cooking with family.

They'll also have pink shirts available for breast cancer survivors. This craft is fun for children and adults alike!

Summer living

This week at PRFM...
We're rain or shine (see us inside Child Hall if there's rain!)

Chef Demo
with Graham House | 4th & Swift
10:00 a.m. on 6/27
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
Wanderlust doesn't begin to describe chef Graham House's culinary journey. He started out in Asheville and Atlanta, then decided to give Italy a try, working at a 140-year old kitchen in a small town outside of Lake Como. After a year, he headed back to the states and served as the opening sous chef under chefs Jay Swift and Chris Hall at 4th & Swift, where he continued to develop his love for local and seasonal. Next he took that passion across the country to work with California veg, cooking at renowned restaurants in Napa and San Francisco with a focus on using not just the whole animal, but also the whole vegetable. Lucky for us, his travels have brought him back to Atlanta and 4th & Swift, where he's been putting his spin on the menu since May. Join him under the demo tent this Saturday for a fresh look at what to do with your summer market haul!

Tips from Piedmont Better Living...
Here, from our partners at Piedmont Hospital, is a quick article on just how great raw veggies are for you. Bonus: they taste wonderful, too (especially PRFM's farm-fresh heirloom varieties).

Of note...
Peachtree Road Farmers Market is CLOSED on JULY 4th due to the Peachtree Road Race. Good luck to everyone participating!

Chef Demo
with Angus Brown of Lusca
10:00 a.m. on 6/6
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
After making an indelible mark on the industry with Octopus Bar, a celebrated post-shift spot among our city's chefs, Angus Brown's newest concept was one of the most highly anticipated openings last year. And rightly so. Lusca has since been named as a semifinalist for the James Beard Foundation's Best New Restaurant category, included in GQ's list of "America's 25 Outstanding Restaurants," and listed in bon appetit's "America's 50 Best New Restaurants." Angus was also named one of Cooking Light's "Trailblazing Chefs" and was nominated for Food & Wine's "People's Best New Chef." He's trained in French, Italian, and Asian cuisine, and has researched and cooked his way through Japan and Vietnam. Lucky for us, he's settled in his hometown of Atlanta, where he's committed to using local ingredients and serves on the chef advisory board of Atlanta's Community Farmers Markets. You won't want to miss this Saturday's demo with one of our city's most creative chefs!

Piedmont Hospital
Chef Zach Meloy is a native Georgian who has experience in kitchens across the Southeast (with chefs like Gerry Klaskala, Jay Swift, and Frank Stitt) as well as in Latin America (including Costa Rica, where he met his "better half," Cristina). In 2011, Zach and Cristina launched their popular supper club, PushStart Kitchen, which gained such a following that the couple decided to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant (funded on Kickstarter by their many fans). At the end of 2013, they opened BETTER HALF, recently named by Garden & Gun as one of the five most exciting new restaurants in the South. Check out this week's demo and see exactly what all the buzz is about!

Chef Demo

10:00 a.m. on 5/2
Chef Demos are sponsored by
Piedmont Hospital
This Saturday under the demo tent, one of “Top Chef” Kevin Gillespie’s “hired guns,” Joey Ward, will bring his passion for local foods and farmers. He's the real deal—knowing he wanted to become a chef as a young boy looking up to his grandfather, a Navy cook. Ward worked in some of Atlanta’s favorite spots, from Woodfire Grill to H. Harper Station, before Gillespie recruited him (and his creativity) for Gunshow. He's since been named Jezebel’s “Rising Star Chef” and listed in Zagat’s “30 Under 30" of people redefining the hospitality industry. Oh, and he’s also the two-year consecutive champ of the Kevin Gillespie Super Bowl Dip Off/Snack Attack competition. Get ready to think outside the [produce] box, y’all.

Chef Pop-Up with Nick Leahy
Grab a bite from Saltyard’s Nick Leahy and support the PRFM Meals on Wheels program, where produce is bought from farmers after the market to serve local seniors in need.

In 2013, 2014, and 2015, he was named a nominee for Best Chef: Southeast by the organization. He is clearly the real deal. Chef McKeown highlights local and organic as the executive chef at Grand Hyatt Atlanta’s Cassis restaurant and oversees all of the hotel’s weddings, social gatherings, and corporate shindigs. He’s also a member of Hyatt’s Sustainable and Responsible eating team—yes, that is a thing, and yes, it is very cool. Don't miss his intro to spring this Saturday!

Coming next week!
Join us on Saturday, April 18 at 10:00 a.m. for a special Chef Demo and cookbook signing by Chef Steven Satterfield. Root to Leaf is not a vegetarian cookbook, it's a cookbook that celebrates vegetables, and a must-have for your kitchen!
