The Duck Pond Hawk by local children’s book author Susan Murray Euart
Local children’s book author and photographer Susan Murray Euart will be in the Story Tent with her book The Duck Pond Hawk: A True Story about Caring, Courage and Growing Up which tells the true story of an orphaned red-shouldered hawk adopted by the neighbors of Buckhead’s Duck Pond. Euart combined her real-life experience at the Duck Pond with her amazing photographs of the adventure into a picture book told from the baby hawk’s point of view. This touching story includes themes of responsibility and growing up, great for families to explore together. The Cathedral Book Store will be selling the books at the Market and in the bookstore for $16.99.
10:00 a.m.
Chef Demo by youth chef Katie Bazzel
Chef Demos are sponsored by Whole Foods Market
Katie Bazzel, a rising senior at The Lovett School, enjoys being busy in the kitchen. Her interest in healthy food began the summer after freshman year, when she wanted to know how to treat her body well so that it could perform at its best. She learned as much as she could about eating habits that are both healthy for our bodies and for our environment. At the beginning of her junior year, Katie started a little business called Live Forever Muffins, selling vegan muffins to her friends and family. Today, she’s inspiring her loved ones to eat healthy, planning to study nutrition in college, and is excited about a life devoted to good health. Join Katie for this week’s demo and gain a fresh perspective!
