Farm to Terrace to Farm

This Week at PRFM

Chef Demo with Jon Wolf
The Terrace on Peachtree at The Ellis Hotel
10:00 a.m. on 7/23
Chef Demos are sponsored by Whole Foods Market

You may have already seen Chef Jon Wolf perusing PRFM in the last few weeks. Or, shall we say, serving as a peruse-guide for a lucky group of folks joining him for The Ellis on Peachtree’s Farm to Terrace Excursion. This Market trip and lunch package features shopping with Chef Jon at PRFM, followed by lunch at The Terrace based on what was purchased that morning. Check out a sample menu on The Ellis blog and join us this Saturday for a mini-taste under the Demo Tent! As always, you’ll be in the good hands of a chef who cares about local, sustainable, and delicious cooking; from his previous work at Ritz-Carlton Buckhead, Restaurant Eugene, The Food Studio, and South City Kitchen, to his current role at Terrace, Chef Jon has proven his passion for working with local farmers’ products to create seasonal dishes for you and yours. What’s on tap for this weekend? A taste of summer, naturally. The Ellis Hotel is a proud sponsor of the Wholesome Wave program at PRFM which doubles SNAP (food stamp) benefits, making local food and healthy choices more accessible to all Georgians.

News you can use

2nd Annual Southern Chef's Potluck
Sunday, July 31 from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at
A benefit for Wholesome Wave Georgia

Think of it as a Southern Summer Thanksgiving—with all the fixings (and only the good kind of crazy family love). If you missed last year’s inaugural event, now’s your chance to get in on the fun! Imagine a covered picnic area with an idyllic view of a lake and surrounding pastureland. Then imagine that area filled to the brim with the potluck specialties of the South’s finest chefs: Anne Quatrano, Billy Allin, Dan Latham, Ford Fry, Hilary White, Hugh Acheson, Joe Truex, Shaun Doty, Linton Hopkins, Michel Nischan (honorary Atlantan), Kevin Gillespie, Steven Satterfield and Todd Ginsberg are all bringing their best sides, pickles and desserts. Jim N' Nicks is cooking the meat from White Oak Pastures. Quivera is pouring the wine. Terrapin is serving the beer and Greg Best is mixing the punch. It couldn’t get better, you say? Well, it does. This event is the primary fundraiser for Wholesome Wave Georgia, so your dollars will not only go towards a fantastic meal but will also benefit this important program that works with 13 farmers markets statewide (including PRFM) to support our local farmers, economy, and community by doubling the value of SNAP benefits (formerly food stamps) spent at local farmers markets. So yes, $1 = $2 at PRFM thanks to Wholesome Wave Georgia. You can also support Wholesome Wave while you’re at the supper by setting your sights on the live auction—perhaps they can interest you in a day with Chef Linton Hopkins (private cooking classes and dinner at Restaurant Eugene) for 4; or a cooking class for 8 with Chef Hugh Acheson at the home of Steve and Marie Nygren (Serenbe royalty); or maybe you want to get the whole gang together for a cocktail party for 30 with food and drinks provided by Chef Steven Satterfield; or you could keep it low-key with a dinner for 8 provided by Chef Kevin Gillespie, including a Sunday night stay at the Inn at Serenbe. Where can you buy tickets for this incredible fête? We thought you’d never ask! For tickets ($100 per person) and more information, go here!
